The clients’ family member proceeded with a routine ENT, outpatient surgical procedure. During the surgery, however, the doctor breached the applicable standard of care, which caused brain hemorrhaging, and ultimately, the death of our client’s family member. The matter was settled shortly after a lawsuit was filed.

Our client’s family member was in her apartment cooking when a fight broke out among numerous non-residents in the common areas of the complex and gunfire erupted. The victim was hit by a stray bullet and sustained serious injuries to her abdominal area and organs, which ultimately caused her death. Despite the subject apartment complex being located in a high crime area, the owners failed to implement any security measures that could have prevented this fatal shooting incident.

The client was stopped at a controlled intersection when her vehicle was rear-ended by a commercial truck. As a result of the wreck, the client sustained numerous serious injuries to her spine and extremities. The commercial truck operator’s insurance company paid all available insurance coverage limits to resolve the claim before a lawsuit was filed.

This jury verdict involved a minor impact, low-speed, rear-end auto collision. Despite there being little visible damage to the vehicles involved in the wreck, our client sustained neck and back injuries. The at-fault driver’s insurance company, State Farm, never offered more than $10,000 to resolve this case. State Farm ultimately paid the entire judgment, with interest, after the trial court denied its motion for new trial.
